I’m just going to put this out there. Here’s my personal opinion of the Garden of Eden story. As you’re probably aware by now, I think that the entire Universe is one energy, that we are all part of that energy, and that energy is what we might call “God”. I believe that we each and collectively create reality. I was raised religious, however now as an adult I see the Bible as an interesting history lesson, yet not always something that I would follow to the letter. It’s filled with contradictions, and I’m not a fan of all the dogma and traditions that have grown up around religion in general. However, it is something that has literally seeped throughout our culture, so even if you weren’t raised in a religion, you probably have some idea of what I’m going to be talking about here.
Enough with the disclaimers. In case you have no idea what I’m talking about, the Garden of Eden story is the one where the first people, created by God, lived in peaceful harmony with everything. They “walked and talked with” God on a daily basis. Until Eve was tempted by a talking snake who told her that if she ate the one forbidden fruit that she would become “like the gods”. This forbidden fruit grew on the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Ok, so here’s the important part. Prior to this, Adam and Eve (and their children) only had knowledge of Good. Therefore, if you subscribe to the “we create our reality” theory, the only reality they were able to create or experience was that of goodness. Delight, ease, joy, happiness, that was their essential state of being, then. Until… they ingested the knowledge of Evil. Before that choice, their only experience was of good.
Some people say, “well, without darkness, you cannot know light,” or, “without evil, you cannot know goodness.” Perhaps this is true. I really couldn’t say. But I do know that I’d like the opportunity to find out! I do know that it is possible to create and inhabit a utopia, and I want to do it!
We create our reality based on what we focus on, what we steep our consciousness in. One important step to oneness is to erase the consciousness of duality. There literally are UNLIMITED OPTIONS!
So, think about this: how much would your reality shift if you ALWAYS and ONLY focused on the good, if the only information you allowed into your consciousness was knowledge of good. If you purged your beliefs, thoughts, feelings, words and actions of anything else? It is quite a mental challenge to do so, yet the reward can literally be “heaven on earth”.
